Pandigital’s new Novel eReader, with color touchscreen, pre-loaded with Google’s Android OS, and integrated with Barnes & Noble’s eBookstore will begin selling next month for $199.99, and promises to push color eReaders more to the front for the coming holiday season!

Are the Christmas eReader price wars heating up?  This week, Copia, a subsidiary of DMC Worldwide, announced plans to introduce a five-inch color eReader for just $99 this fall.

“The iPad disrupted pricing strategy for everyone in the eReader market, and after the price wars with Barnes & Noble and Amazon, everyone’s trying to differentiate themselves from a price-point perspective,” Tony Antolino, senior vice president of DMC Worldwide, said in a statement. “We decided to do a revision of our hardware positioning.”

Today, CNN Money reports that Virginia-based enTourage company will introduce an innovative, new dual screen eReader/Netbook computer combination called the eDGe in 2010.  The eDGe may give the Kindle serious competition in the coming year!

The eDGe will offer the consumer access to both ebooks and most notebook functions, including internet access.  The eDGe is an innovative  attempt at bringing live internet and everyday reading together.

Next week, during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Spring Design will finally unveil Alex, the only dual-screen Google Android-based eReader that fully integrates web browsing and reading.  Alex features a 6″ E-Ink EPD display and 3.5″ color LCD display, earphones and speakers.  A removable SD card will free up library space on the device while letting users archive content for future reference.  Pricing is not available yet, but we’ll keep you posted!
